The honest answer is that there is no single number, and any kitchen that hands you one is guessing. A delivery to a street near Jumeirah 1 at four in the morning and a delivery to the far edge of Dubai in Friday evening traffic are not the same journey, so they cannot share one answer.

What you get instead is more useful than an average. Once your card payment goes through, our kitchen confirms your order and sets an estimated time for that order — your dishes, your area, at that hour — and you follow its progress on the order's own page on the site. If you would rather decide the timing yourself, schedule the order at checkout for a future time, up to about two days ahead.

Why won't you just publish one delivery time?

Because a published number is only ever true for one customer on one night. The moment we print it, it becomes a promise to a reader across town on a busy weekend evening and to a reader two streets away at dawn, and one of them is going to be let down. We would rather tell you what the wait varies with, and where your own estimate appears once the kitchen has read your order.

There is a practical reason too. Kalle pache is slow food, and we cook it in one kitchen at 64 Jumeira Street, Jumeirah 1. There are no branches, so every order in Dubai leaves from the same door. That is excellent for consistency and honest about geography: a bowl going a few streets and the same bowl crossing the city will not arrive at the same moment.

What actually decides how long my delivery takes?

How far your area is from Jumeirah 1

This is the biggest factor. At checkout you choose your Dubai area from a list and drop a pin on the map, and both are required: the area sets the delivery charge — delivery is free on orders over AED 300 — while the pin tells the rider which door is actually yours. The further the area, the longer the drive.

What hour you are ordering at

Three in the morning is not eight in the morning, and neither of them is a Friday evening. We are open twenty-four hours, every day, so you may order at any of those hours — but the roads are not the same at all of them, and neither is the number of orders in front of yours.

How big the order is

A single bowl of soup and The Khan's Platter — four lamb cheeks, eight trotters, two brains, three tongues, four eyes and five breads — are not the same amount of cooking, plating and careful packing. Bigger orders take longer before they even reach the rider.

Traffic, roadworks and weather

Rain, a closed lane, a match night, a busy Ramadan evening: none of these are under anyone's control, ours included. They are why your estimate is set per order rather than printed once on a webpage.

What affects the wait, and what can I do about it?

Where do I see the estimated time for my order?

On the order's own page on the site. Nothing to install, and no account to open: you give a name, a phone number and, for delivery, an address, because the kitchen and the rider need them. You pay securely by card, the kitchen confirms the order and sets the estimate, and you open your order's page whenever you want to see where things stand. When the rider reaches you, they phone the number you gave at checkout.

That estimate is exactly what its name says: set by the people cooking your food, for your order, on that night, rather than a confident figure from a template. If anything about it worries you, the phone is 04 321 8882 — our only contact channel, and it reaches someone standing near your food.

Can I choose the hour instead of "as soon as possible"?

Yes, and this is the part most people miss. At checkout you can schedule the order for a future time rather than for right now, up to about two days ahead. Because the kitchen never closes, a dawn delivery is not a special favour — it is an ordinary order placed at a sensible moment.

If breakfast is at a set hour, if guests arrive at a set hour, if you want soup waiting when you get home from a night shift, say so at checkout instead of hoping. You pay in the same secure way, and the order waits its turn until its time comes.

Is pickup faster than delivery?

Almost always, because pickup removes the road from the equation. Choose pickup at checkout, pay the same secure way, and collect from 64 Jumeira Street, Jumeirah 1. Nobody has to find your building, and nothing sits in traffic between the pot and your table.

And dine-in — is there any wait at all?

Dine-in has no delivery leg at all: the bowl goes from the kitchen to your table. You can reserve a table on the website, which is worth doing if you are bringing a group. It is also the only way to have a Kettle of Tea, which is served at the table and cannot be delivered.

Does ordering at three in the morning really work?

It does. The kitchen is open twenty-four hours, every day, and the roads at that hour are usually kind. Order in the small hours for now, or schedule the night before so it lands with sunrise — both are ordinary here.

What if my plans change after I have paid?

Telephone the kitchen quickly on 04 321 8882. The website has no self-service button to cancel or edit an order, and we would rather say that plainly than let you hunt for one that does not exist. Speed matters: once a slow-cooked order is under way, there is only so much anyone can undo.

What if the kitchen cannot do my order at all?

Then the order is rejected with a reason, the reason is shown to you on your order page, and the card payment is refunded automatically to the card that paid. How quickly your bank posts that refund is decided by your bank and not by us, so we will not promise you a date. If the reason is unclear, phone 04 321 8882.

How can I help my order arrive sooner?

  • Drop the map pin on the door you will actually open, not the middle of your area.
  • Pick the correct area from the list — the delivery charge and the route are based on it.
  • Give a phone number you will answer, and keep it near you; the rider calls on arrival.
  • If you know the hour you want, schedule the order at checkout rather than hoping.
  • If you are genuinely in a hurry, choose pickup, or come and sit down with us.
